Shipping and handling information
We add a shipping and handling charge based on the total value of your order. That amount is a minimum of $7 for orders less than $36 up to a maximum of $13 for orders up to $136. Orders over $146 ship free.
|Flat rate shipping costs:|
|Orders up to $36||$7|
|Over $36 to $56||$9|
|Over $56 to $86||$11|
|Over $86 to 146||$13|
We haven’t raised our prices for shipping since 2013 so “shipping and handling” charges are a little higher than pre-Covid days.
These rates apply to shipping within what I call the "lower 48". Rates to Alaska, Hawaii, US possessions, colonies, and other far away places may be higher.
We use both USPS Priority Mail and FedEx Ground as our standard shipping methods. Since USPS introduced regional rate boxes, Priority Mail has tended to be the better option for smaller packages up to about 5kg (and up to 10kg locally) because FedEx adds excessive surcharges for residential and/or remote area deliveries. Larger boxes must still go by FedEx Ground. Rates subject to change without notice or mistakes in arithmetic.
The chart below shows FedEx transit times for ground shipments from Asheville, NC. Priority Mail times are comparable for one or two day regions but faster farther out so we try to use Priority Mail to the four-day and greater regions (coffee is perishable, you know), and Priority is the only practical method to Military (FPO/APO) addresses and to US Territories.
